New Hollywood & Vanggey Yong Suan

When in Ipoh,,two of the must visit makan place is Restoran New Hollywood & Nasi Vanggey aka Nasi Ganja..

First up for breakfast we head to Restoran New Hollywood, Canning Garden. konsep typical chinese kopitiam, with all sort of local chinese delicacies. No worries, all food here are guaranteed Halal, they've also been featured in The Star Newspaper as its a truly 1 Malaysia Restoran, all sort of races be it chinese, malay or indian dines here.

Well my fav here is their kopi ais & roti goyang (roti bakar with half-boiled egg on top)...marvelous..

Others like the curry mee, char kuey teow & charkoi are also good....macam-macam ada sini..

For lunch, kena try Nasi Vanggey (aka Nasi Ganja)..They actually occupying front part of Restoran Yong Suan..so you just order air from the taukey & nasi from the mamak. Got to be here early (11.30am) or it will be jam packed..
There's another Restoran Vanggey in Greentown, but this is way better, but if its closed you can do with the second one la. :)

Luckily, kalau dine in tak payah beratur, just look for a table (you have to share table) & order.

Ayam Tandoori - Kapitan & Subaidah

One of the must eat food when in Penang. Memang tak sah kalau tak singgah makan kat Restoran Kapitan.. in particular its Ayam Tandoori..marvelous..the marinate, dipping sauce is in total compliment with the chicken..
Cooked in total perfection, the chicken is crispy on the outside but still soft and tender inside..two thumbs up!!!

Usually akan singgah the main rest. kat Lebuh Chulia, but since plan nak jumpa my best buds Fiedah, decided to go to branch kat area Queensbay Mall.. luckily taste is still the same..:)

Another must try kat sini is the claypot beriyani..mmg sedap..tapi tak order la sebab perut kenyang lagi with all the food in Penang..
The portion is quite big..one claypot boleh makan 2 org..highly recommended

My best friend masa kat Penang dulu, Fiedah..kesian anak dia tak sihat time tu..

Masa lepak2 dgn Fiedah tu, she suggested to try tandoori at Rest Subaidah. Wah..pantang dengar food yg sedap..terus tanya detail kat mana..carik dlm waze ada..
Time dah pukul 11pm, mata pun dah rabak..memandangkan esok dah nak balik..paksa jugak la hubby pegi carik mlm tu jugak..esok tak sempat dah.. :)
Nasib baik dia sporting..:) terus la ke Restoran Subaidah, Sg Dua . 

Hmmm...my conclusion, Kapitan's tandoori is way better than this..tak boleh lawan la...
Crowd favourite here is the nasi lemak daun pisang..tapi tak try la..kenyang lagi..maybe next time..

Cucur Udang White Palace

Got to know this place from a friend whilst visiting her on Raya.. So esok tu terus check out..hehehe
Location tempat ni senang je.kat Taman PKNK, ada sederet food court kat situ..problemnye signboard gerai ni je..kecik ya amat..kalau carik masa dalam keta mmg tak nampak..kitorang kena turun and jalan tengok satu2..

Nama gerai Cucur Udang White Palace..kenapa White Palace..tak tau la..tak sempat interview owner.. :)
Bukak dari petang ke malam, time kitorang sampai ni still early, so tak ramai orang..Kalau lewat sikit kena queue jugak ni.. Cucur dia especially cucur udang sedap, garing & lembut kat dalam. Tapi yg buat jadi sedap is the kuah cicah..mcm kuah kacang rasa dia mmg goes well dengan cucur tu..terbaekkk!!!

Ni set cucur - ada cucur bawang, cucur udang, tauhu goreng & timun - RM3.50

Cucur udang - RM1.20 each

Kuah cicah ni yang buat gerai ni special dari yang lain..memang best sgt..

Kalau nak ikutkan sepinggan sorang makan je ni..tapi sebab perut raya lagi..share je la..

Syawal 2013

Memandangkan Syawal pun dah masuk minggu ke-3, time to update my Raya celebration..
This year is my side punya turn..yeayyy..so two days before raya dah bertolak balik to my hometown, Pokok Sena, Kedah..
My sister, Zaiti pun celebrate raya kat kg jugak, second day baru dia balik rumah Mil in Penang..cuma my eldest sister yg balik one day before raya..husband dia kena keja..ok la..janji first day raya semua sekali ada..:)

As usual, bila raya, kitorang mesti buat ketupat (daun palas) & lemang..Other than that, my Sis buat soto & I masak Ayam Kalio. Something different, asyik laksa je kan..
Lemang ni pun dah lama tak buat..few years back ni je start buat balik..So my hubby pun dapat his second experience of bakaring lemang..This time the lemangs turn out great, yerla dah ada pengalaman..hehhe..pandai control api & timing dah..buat pun tak banyak..dlm 15 batang je..
Time tgh bakar tu pulak, boleh hujan selebat-lebatnya, nasib baik dah standby letak canvas awal2..kalau tak..habis la semua lemang..

Beraya kat Kedah 4 hari je, on Monday dah gerak ke Penang for jalan-jalan cari makan..hehehe..then we stay kat Bukit Merah for one night before heading back to KL..oh..before ke KL to pitstop kat Ipoh, JJCM jugak..:)

The next day tu pulak (Raya ke-11), my turn pulak..tak plan pun nak buat open house..kebetulan my mom datang KL with my brother, so nak masak la laksa for her..alang2 dah buat laksa tu..lebihkan la..for majers n close friends..tak la open house sangat..
