Fikcles - Bread, Comfort Food, Coffee

Betul2 dah jadi macam cendawan lepas hujan dah.. lots of cafes and restaurant are opening up in TTDI..yeahh..
This time around, nak try out a place called Fikcles.. 
My partner for tonite, Kak Siti..my ex-collegue.. memang lama gila dah tak jumpa..one fine day dia text tny khabar and ajak lepak nak catch up.. tambah lak time raya..kira ala2 jamuan raya la..hehehe

Deco simple, ala2 homely.

Sebelum dish sampai, dihidangkan dgn munchies ni..ngap..ngap..ngap..

So here's what we ordered...

Grilled Salmon Fillet - RM28.50

Linguine Arabiatta - RM14.90

Mocha & Lime Juice

Salmon dia memang best, garing on the outside, tapi inside still moist..that's the way how I like my salmon..
As for the Linguine, it was ok, good and nothing to complain.

Tapi in my opinion the place macam takda nak shout out about.. tak tau apa yang nak buat orang datang berpusu2 kat sini..the food mind you was ok..tapi macam tak standout sangat.. Deco pun macam biasa2 je.. hmmm

If you in TTDI tapi buntu nak lepak/makan mana probably could this place a try.. but kalau semata2 nak ke sini untuk makan maybe not kot.. :) Just my 2 cents...

Malaysia dengan Mamak ni memang sinonim..
Makan & review merata, end up mamak jugak jadi our comfort food..hehehe
Nak highlight something special kat Mamak Mosin in TTDI..
Roti Naan biasa la kalau kat kedai lain, pastu ada la garlic naan, cheese naan..
Kat Mosin ni diorang dah modify, garlic & cheese naan..jadi Mumtaz Naan..

With generous spread of mayo and tomato..pastu ada cili skit..sekali tengok dah macam pizza pun ada..
Biasanya I will ask for extra cheese..Dapp..dapp..dapp....
Tak tau la kedai mamak lain ada ke tak mumtaz naan ni..

Harley's - All American Burger

Masa pergi pasar Tmn Tun nampak la kedai ni..hmm this is new.. LGB Tower, opposite pasar besar TTDI.
Google around, some say tempat ni inspired from In-N-Out burger chain dari US..
Wahh, my hubby dengar je In-N-Out Burger ni terus tergedik2 nak try out..
In-N-Out Burger ni memang famous kat US, but its only in California..dia penah try when he was there many moons ago (halal ke tidok??) heheheh..zaman jahiliyah lagi katanya..

But this one the owner guarantee all food are sourced from Halal supplier, and diorang tgh dapatkan Halal Jakim certification.

Harley's ni nak kata restaurant, tak jugak..it's more like a counter..dining area kat luar, macam ala2 piknik giteww..or boleh dine kat dalam, at the chinese halal restaurant. Its the same owner so takda hal..:)

Plan asal nak berbuka dgn Kathy and cousin hubby, Dada..but last minute dia tak boley join. Kebetulan pulak Yana pun berbuka luar pasal dia bawak anak buah kluar shopping raya..
Jadila 3 couple erat ni berbuka sekali.. heheeh
Since its in TTDI, I tapaukan la sekali kuih makcik lembap kat Perodua TTDI tu.( sapa follow my insta tau la citer makcik ni..heheeh).. Kuih seri muka and kuih talam..terbaik di pasaran..:)

Menu tak banyak sangat, simple and straight forward - either chicken burger, beef burger, vege burger or fried chicken. Pastu variation burger ada macam2 la, no cheese, double patty etc.

I tried beef burger and hubby 2x2 beef burger, 2x2 tu patty dia pun ada dua :)
Set menu comes with burger, drink and a side dish - either fries, coleslaw or potato salad.
Yana n Shah both had beef burger gak, Kathy je yg try chicken burger..tak tanya pulak sedap ke tidak..rasanya sedap la kot pasal takda complain..hehehe.

Beef patty sini they use premium grade beef, and unlike burger bakar..patty dia nipis skit tapi dimasak garing..so bila makan terasa la garing2 burger tu..agak menarik jugak. :)

Satu lagi yang WAJIB try is the spicy wings...ini paling terbaek...

D'Cengkih - Johorian cuisine

Owner is Johorian.. food is Johorian..so to those yang nak authentic Johorian cuisine..this is the place..

Location wise, its near balai bomba TTDI, opposite Pizza Hut.. memang takkan miss la..kalau dah masuk Taman Tun..
Apa yang best? It's either the breakfast menu or lunch menu..
For breakfast, ada all sorts of Johorian favorite..Laksa Johor, Mee Rebus, Lontong and something yang tak jumpa kat KL ni is Lontong Kering..pastu pelbagai jenis kuih muih tradisional..kuih lopes, karipap, kuih lapis, lempeng pisang..semua terbaik...

For lunch.. memang spoilt for choices..lauk pauk memang banyak..some of my favorites, daging dendeng, ayam kampung goreng berempah, tempe berlada, sambal mangga, asam pedas...
Kalau datang on weekends, memang packed..kena la tunggu jap meja yang kosong..and something special ada live performance...but its more old school la..lagu2 orang lama.. :)

But one thing to note, prices here mahal sikit..kalau ambik lauk tak beringat mau kena berbelas ringgit..

Peruvie - Peruvian Grilled Chicken

Its been awhile kan.. :)

Selalunya kedai yang paling dekat tu la yang susah nak pergi..mesti nak try yang jauh2 je kan..hehehe
Peruvie- at Lorong Rahim Kajai 13, Taman Tun Dr Ismail.betul2 sebelah Penang Village (Maybank).. sekangkang kera je from home...baru nak try out.. hmmm mmg nyesal tak try sebelum ni...

Dari nama kedai pun dah tahu the origin..it's from Peru.. grilled chciken with its own special spicy or original sauce.

For those chicken lover out there, tempat ni wajib try..especially yang meminati Nando's..
I can say the chicken here is way better than Nando's...sauce dia walaupun tak sepedas Nando's, but its still spicy and its way tastier than them....

Went there over the weekend, kedai bukak 12pm..terus smpi dah..we were the only ones in the restaurant..time tgh makan ada la satu meja lain lagi..hmmm dalam hati..haii kedai ni tak lama la nampaknya..sayangnya....

Memang tak la kan..by 1pm je..the restaurant is packed...hmmm ramai dah tahu rupanya..hubby pun terserempak dgn school mate dia..and his family has been frequenting this place...

The meals here macam kat Kenny Rogers or Nandos..comes in set..nak ala carte pun boleh..set dia either in Quarter or half chciken.. pastu pilih 2 side dishes.. kitorang tried tried the coleslaw, mixed vege, potato salad and corn salad.. Semua best and tak mengecewakan..kalau nak filing sikit..coconut rice pun agak menarik..

Sauce ada two type, original or spicy..haruslah spicy kan...:) tapi tak la pedas gila2 sangat pun..ala2 je..
Bila order baru they will grill the chicken.. so kena la be patient sikit..tapi bila sampai it's worth the wait. 

The chicken is very tender and moist..Pastu on our plate tu ada another dipping sauce..sedap jugak..it's creamy but tak muak...sedap jugak..goes well with salad..or dengan ayam pun best..

As for drinks, we tried out a pitcher of Sangria.. its a Latin American cocktail..asalnya alcoholic la..tapi kat sini no alcohol..so its a mocktail...:) .. its kinda like a fruit cocktail..masam and refreshing with a twist..ada apple cider dlm drink ni..so ada la rasa zing cuka tu..

I think from the same owner kot..cause boleh tembus Penang Village jugak from inside..

Kulcats Barrio

Wah semenjak 2menjak ni TTDI dah semakin menjadi a hip & trendy place to hangout...makin banyak restaurant, coffee joints bukak kat sini....
This time around gonna review a place call Kulcats Barrio..nama cam pelik tapi kool...:)
Selalu tgk IG nabila huda tunjuk makanan/dessert kat sini..memang menarik.. terliur nengoknya.. tempat pun tak jauh from my house..its basically a hipster place la..young peeps chillin with friends..

Owned by celebrity chef soofiz (kalau ada yg tau la..) tak ramai org kenal kot.. this place was opened earlier this year, tapi banyak kali takda peluang nak pegi..tak cukup corum la, fully booked la...mcm2...
Last Friday plan nak gossip2 & catch up dgn manjers...so apa lagi..Kulcats la...

Yana & Kathy je ada..lepas keja terus ke sini..dlm kul 6.30 dh smpi..itu pun buat reservation awal2..tempat ni kalau weekend memang pack...
By 8.30 camtu  Kathy pun nak kena gerak dah..I dengan Yana mmg dah bagitau our hubby to join for dinner, so kitorang stay je la lagi...(awal2 hubbys tak boley ada..payah nak gossip..hehehe)

Ok, so how's the food you might ask? Okay first thing this place is well known for its dessert, so bear in mind, kena la simpan perut sikit nak order dessert nanti kan...
That's why best kalau dtg ramai2..so boleh la rasa itu sikit, ini sikit...macam2 boleh try..

The Kulcats Nachos is great, very light & crispy and good as snacks with friends or yg nak light food...sangat sesuai..

Our main course, Kathy ordered Aglio Olio Spaghetti- greatt..spaghetti was al dente (pengaruh Masterchef), not too oily & best of all its extra spicy..yumm..yummmm

Yana order Hot Pepperoni Pizza...very nice,,thin crust pizza...with hot BBQ sauce on top...very light & crispy...best...

I pulak order Lamb Chop, wow the portion is big...boleh makan 2 orang ni...sauce is very nice, mamang kena dengan lamb..and the mashed potato is good also..

 Hubby order Beef Short Ribs - well cooked, well marinated & very tender...its not to sweet (some do it too sweet).

Shah took the Sloppy Burger- sauce is very nice, its just the beef patty is just a little bit undercooked (patty is huge). Maybe can request well done next time. :)

Ohh, Eizam pulak tak makan, so he ordered Milkshake, which is nice and not too sweet..

Ok, now comes the best part..desserts...
So what's good here...hmmmm..everything...Pavlova..good, Mud Pie..good, Brownies...good, Banoffee Pie..good...
Basically the desserts here are all good...hehehee...
